Attention all nurses who hold a multi-state license under the Nursing Licensure Compact.  On January 19, 2018, the existing Nursing Licensure Compact will change to the enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC). The following states were part of the original Nursing Licensure Compact and will be part of the eNLC as of January 19, 2018: Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.  If your state of residence is from one of these states, you will be grandfathered in and eligible to work under your existing Compact License in any of these states.  You will also be eligible to work in the five new states that have passed legislation to become part of the enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC) as of January 19, 2018:  Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wyoming. If you have a multi-state license from the original Nursing Licensure Compact and your state of residence is Colorado, New Mexico, Rhode Island, or Wisconsin, as of January 19, 2018, you will only be licensed to work in one of these four states.  These states have not passed legislation to be part of the eNLC.  If you are currently working in one of the states that will be part of the eNLC, and will be working in that state on January 19, 2018, you will be required to have a single state license from that state. If you practice in a state that is not a member of the eNLC, you need a single state license from that state regardless of whether you hold a multi-state license.
