Meet our Traveler of the Week: Shannon Fowler
When did you become a nurse and why?
I've been a nurse for 13 years. I don't have a big story as to WHY I became a nurse. I decided to STAY a nurse when I discovered travel nursing, to avoid "burn out", about 8 years ago.
What made you go into travel nursing?
Travel nursing has allowed me to discover there is many ways to reach the same outcome. I've also learned a lot about myself and have made amazing friends!!
What has been your favorite location for travel nursing so far and why?
My favorite places so far are Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and South Carolina.
What is your favorite thing about travel nursing ?
I tend to pick places that have a lot of outdoor activities, particularly skydiving, kayaking, and camping.
What advice can you give others who are interested in travel nursing?
Advice I would give:
- stay on top of continuing education
- pick a recruiter you trust
- pack only what you need
- keep an open mind
- don't be scared to do things by yourself!!
So glad to have you on the Accountable Team. We have some great goodies coming your way!
Safe Travels!!!!
